I thought that I should share the reason for my absence from the diary. Shortly after my husband and I returned from our honeymoon in February my mother-in-law became ill. At first we thought it was just a cold and that she was tired from her recent travels. In April our fears were confirmed, she had cancer. She made it through a difficult surgery and we were hopeful for recovery. But, sadly that didn't happen. My sweet mother-in-law passed away August 25.

I really enjoy writing the coconut diary but, my heart was in another place. Life won't be the same with out her. Lola was quiet, but adventurous...never afraid of something new. She loved Kauai and we traveled often together. She was a nurse and was always willing to take care of someone. An awesome, fun, loving human being. She is missed.
