Merry Christmas Friends! One of my favorite things to do at Christmas time is to make a gingerbread house. I especially like to make Hawaiian style gingerbread hales. Like this one from a couple years back...check out the shredded wheat roof! This year we made a more traditional house, a simple candy shack! It was a fun family project, that the kiddos really got into. My little one ate a lot of the decor before it could reach the house. I never knew she loved gum drops...notice we only have two gum drop windows! Here's a photo of last year's gingerbread hale. It was awesome! I did a post in the diary about it. Just look to the right side of the screen and click on December 2012 to see it. I hope that today brought you happy times spent with those you love! Best wishes friends for a very happy Christmas!

Aloha Readers! I've been away enjoying a jolly good time! We've been having too much fun visiting our family and friends up in northern California. It's been great! Just a little chilly! I started this diary post a week ago and didn't post the entry. With my trusty lap top warm and cozy back in San Diego, I've had to use an i-pad. Ugh! They're not fun to type on! I still don't understand the hype! :) Every tree needs a little aloha! My tree is no exception! Here's a few photos of some of my favorite Hawaii inspired Christmas ornaments... I love the first ornament...Santa playing the ukulele! He rocks in his slippas! My awesome sister, who must love me a lot, bought me this Christopher Radko ornament. The perfect Christmas gift! She's bought me a few over the years... Here Santa is looking a little more relaxed. He's got his shades, a cool tropical drink and even managed to lose his Santa cap! No shoes, no shirt...Santa still has aloha with his Shaka! I bought this ornament on Kauai a couple years ago at Walmart. Which you all know is a great place to pick up your souvenirs cheaply! They even have a nice selection of made in Hawaii products to take home.
Thanks for reading my diary! Keep Kauai in your heart and add a little aloha to your Christmas tree! Have a good week friends! :) It's been 2 years since we bought our condo on Kauai. It's been a lot of fun! Starting with the renovations! My husband and I would have been perfect characters on a TV reality show. We did the renovations in 7 days! Crazy...I know. Just to confirm the craziness...did you know that we bought the condo sight unseen?! Here's a photo from our first morning on Kauai in our new condo. It was a beautiful sunrise! I took this photo from our lanai. That little strip on the horizon is our peek-a-boo ocean view! The family room as it was shown for sale. Here is what it looked like when we bought the condo unfurnished. We drug the chairs in from the lanai so that we would have a place to sit! After 7 days of hard, but fun work this is what the family room looked like! So bright and sunny! New floor, new paint, new blinds, new curtains, new furniture! All those cute finger prints on the mirror are from our youngest daughter. We added a coffee table, art work by Heather Brown and a few accessories after I took this photo. If you would like to see the bedroom renovation, please check out my March 2013 post. We did the bedroom before the family room as we purchased the condo empty! No bed...first night was spent on the floor!
These past two years wouldn't have been possible with out our amazing real estate agent & property management company Garden Island Properties! They're the best! We also have a super cleaning girl...Darcy! She keeps the condo spotlessly clean and makes every guest feel at home. We've had some wonderful guests, some who have shared their love of Kauai with us. It's been a great two years, I've enjoyed sharing it with you! As always, thanks for reading my diary! Much aloha! |
