May 1st is May Day on the Mainland but, in Hawaii it's Lei Day!
Lei Day became an official holiday in Hawaii back in 1929. It was a day to honor the art of lei making and the custom of wearing lei. The holiday is still celebrated today with lei making contests, music, food booths and hula performances.

If you are on Kauai, a great place to pick up a lei inexpensively is Walmart in Lihue. Such a nice gift for your sweetheart or any loved one!
